Flap Flap Revolution is a sound-controlled gameplay, combining elements from Flappy Bird and Dance Dance Revolution. The gameplay mechanics involve the user's voice input to control the movements of the Flappy Bird avatar with the primary objective of maneuvering the bird to capture stars, which are synchronized with the musical beats, akin to the arrows in Dance Dance Revolution.
As the team lead, I orchestrated the project's development by three core tasks. Two of our teammates were assigned to the task of mapping stars to the music, while I focused on the voice control script. Collaboratively, we worked on preparing the necessary game assets to ensure a cohesive and visually engaging user experience. In the end, I integrated all the components in Unity to get the final result.
Our team won the Best Game Dev prize. It was exciting to witness participants' reactions during the game presentation, especially when they would scream as they interacted with different sensory elements we had designed. Their feedback highlighted how our game successfully utilized different sensations to evoke strong emotions, which reinforced the importance of incorporating multi-sensory elements in creating more dynamic and interactive gaming environments.
